"A thousand tears" by me

Today is the last day of school, and like it is with international school, many people leave every year. I wrote this poem about goodbyes a while ago, and today seems like a nice occasion to share it.

I took this photo on the last school day last year. There’s nothing particularly special about the picture itself, but it reminds me of those precious moments spent with people who I might never see again.

I won't cry
Waving you goodbye -
Maybe I'll even smile at how
You go to chase your dreams;

But later that night,
The place you've left behind
Will feel so empty that at last
I'll shed a thousand tears.
